Dr. Alita Mishra is a primary care physician board certified in internal medicine. She joined Inova 360° Concierge Medicine with more than 17 years of clinical experience. Dr. Mishra is a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed her internal medicine residency training at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Mishra joined Inova in 2003 upon completion of her residency and has done clinical practice in both inpatient and outpatient medicine during her years at Inova. She has a special interest in medical education, preventive medicine and chronic disease management.
Most recently, Dr. Mishra founded and served as the Program Director of Inova’s internal medicine residency program. Prior to that, she served in various academic roles with Inova and its affiliated medical schools. She has won several teaching awards, served in national committees and authored several publications.
Dr. Mishra became interested in internal medicine because she enjoys taking care of multiple medical issues and likes having long-term relationships with her patients. Her goal is to help her patients achieve optimal health by applying evidence-based-medicine while including patient preferences. She considers herself a lifelong learner, and her goal is to be her patients’ advocate. She feels that being a physician is an incredible privilege and that patient-doctor relationship is a partnership.
A native of Kathmandu, Nepal, Dr. Mishra moved to the United States at the age of 17. She currently resides in Vienna, VA, with her husband and two children. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her family. They enjoy hiking, traveling and trying new foods together.
