About Cassandra M. Vorgang, FNP

Cassandra Vorgang is a family nurse practitioner. She joined Inova in 2005 and has been practicing as a critical care nurse since 2003. Since that time, she has worked in various roles throughout Inova in the critical care setting.

Previously, Cassandra worked with the innovative programs team at Inova Schar Heart and Vascular. Cassandra is now an advanced heart failure nurse practitioner at Inova Advanced Heart Failure in Falls Church, VA, where she focuses on delivering high value care for the outpatient heart failure population and the decompensated patient needing acute IV diuresis in the outpatient setting.

Cassandra has developed a unique and focused orientation program, which has been used to onboard advanced practice providers (APPs) and registered nurses in the advanced heart failure setting focused on growth and retention. She also serves as the structural heart liaison to the outpatient heart failure team, assuring all patients undergoing transcatheter edge-to-edge mitral valve repair procedures are medically optimized from a heart failure perspective along with her physician colleagues. Cassandra has developed a guideline-directed medication titration clinic and structure that is APP led and run, nested within the advanced heart failure space. The clinic targets a tailored approach to rapid heart failure medication titration and personalized care. She looks forward to continuing to support nurse and APP education in the heart failure area.
