Dr. Jeffrey R. Giuliani is a specialty care physician board certified in orthopedic surgery who specializes in sports medicine and has special interest in all complex arthroscopic procedures of the hip (hip impingement, labral repair, labral reconstruction), shoulder, and knee. Additionally, he has a special interest in shoulder replacement surgery, performing anatomic and reverse total shoulder procedures.
Dr. Giuliani completed his orthopedic training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, and completed a combined sports medicine fellowship at the United States Military Academy at West Point and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Following his training, he became the Chief of Sports and Shoulder Surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Additionally, he served as the orthopedic consultant to the White House and was the Chief of Orthopedics during two separate deployments to Afghanistan and the Middle East. He joined Inova in 2018 with over 15 years of experience.
Dr. Giuliani is the team orthopedic surgeon for DC United (men’s professional soccer) and the Washington Nationals (baseball). He is a consultant to the DC Defenders (XFL) and the Washington Spirit (women’s professional soccer). Dr. Giuliani has presented at numerous national and local conferences on varying sports medicine topics.
Dr. Giuliani’s interest in orthopedics developed from his own injuries sustained during sports. His goal is to bring his own experience with injuries from living an active lifestyle to the bedside of his patients. He wants patients to feel confident and comfortable that they are getting the best possible care for their orthopedic injuries in order to get them back to peak performance.
A native of New Jersey, Dr. Giuliani likes to live an active lifestyle by lifting weights, running, cycling, and playing basketball and volleyball with his kids.
