Dr. Lauren Cianciaruso is a family medicine physician with more than 20 years of experience, board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She began serving patients in Northern Virginia in 2002, and rejoined the Inova Primary Care Purcellville practice in 2017. She values developing long-term relationships with her patients and thoroughly enjoys taking care of the entire family from newborn to geriatrics. Dr. Cianciaruso sees patients of all ages and provides preventive, acute and chronic care management. She enjoys the diversity of care that family medicine brings, and also has a specialized interest in pediatrics, adolescent medicine, dermatology and musculoskeletal conditions.
Dr. Cianciaruso graduated with honors from Nova Southeastern University, completed her residency at Georgetown University/Providence Hospital, and earned her master’s degree in medical management from Carnegie Mellon University/Heinz College. She has served as the Chief of Primary Care for Inova since 2017. Dr. Cianciaruso provides physician leadership and support for Inova’s primary care practices across Northern Virginia.
Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Cianciaruso served as an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Vice President of Medical Affairs at West Virginia University. She was also a founder and Chief Medical Officer for HealthWorks of Northern Virginia, a federally qualified health center, for which she received recognition by the Virginia Community Healthcare Association in 2010 as Physician of the Year. In addition, Dr. Cianciaruso has held leadership positions with Trinity Health System and University of Maryland Health System. She currently serves as Inova’s Quality Liaison for the American Medical Group Association’s National Quality Council.
Dr. Cianciaruso currently resides in Purcellville, VA, along with her husband and three children, and has been a part of the Purcellville community for more than 19 years. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and outdoor activities.
