About Palak Shah, MD

Dr. Palak Shah is a board-certified cardiologist and heart failure/transplant specialist at Inova Health System. He is Director of the Inova Cardiovascular Genomics Center and serves as the Medical Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support for Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. Dr. Shah’s training encompassed multiple institutions in and outside the Washington, DC, area including Georgetown University, George Washington University and the University of Michigan.

During his fellowship, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society, a prestigious award given to individuals recognized for their high academic standing, leadership, professionalism, and firm sense of ethics, as well as commitment to service in the community.

As Medical Director of the Inova Cardiovascular Genomics Center, Dr. Shah is working with a highly talented multidisciplinary team to bring cutting-edge genomics to the bedside of patients with cardiovascular disease. His interest in cardiovascular genomics developed while pursuing a master’s degree in clinical and translational research.

Outside of work, Dr. Shah has a vibrant young family with three young kids and enjoys camping, snowboarding and tennis.
