Dr. Peter MacArthur is a board-certified and fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine physician at Inova Health System. With more than 10 years of experience, he has a special interest in the prevention and management of musculoskeletal and athletic injuries, and the use of diagnostic ultrasound, therapeutic platelet-rich plasma and ultrasound-guided procedures.
Dr. MacArthur was drawn to sports medicine because of his own interest in sports and active living. His goal is to help patients of all ages return to their desired activity level as quickly and safely as possible. Patients trust Dr. MacArthur’s expertise because he consistently provides high-quality care, leading to positive and lasting health outcomes. He is uncompromising in his dedication to the well-being of his patients, and committed to providing exceptional care and establishing long-lasting relationships.
Dr. MacArthur is a sought-after consultant and currently serves as the chief medical officer for D.C. United. He is also a consulting team physician for the Washington Nationals and the head team physician for the professional ultimate frisbee team, DC Breeze. Previously, Dr. MacArthur served as a team physician for the Washington Commanders for five years.
A native of the Washington, DC, metro area, Dr. MacArthur lives in Arlington, VA. He enjoys running, biking, cooking, recreational sports and spending time with his family.
