Dr. Rufaat Mando is a specialty care physician board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He joined Inova in 2024 and has been practicing since 2014.
Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Mando was a gastroenterologist at Gastrointestinal Associates of Maryland.
Dr. Mando is dedicated to providing top-notch care to patients in Northern Virginia. Originally from the vibrant city of New Orleans, Dr. Mando pursued his higher education at several institutions. He earned his degree in psychology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge before pursuing his medical degree at Saba University School of Medicine. Dr. Mando further honed his skills and knowledge through residency in internal medicine at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. He then completed a gastroenterology fellowship at the University of South Alabama in Mobile.
Dr. Mando demonstrates his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of expertise in his field. He is an esteemed member of several professional organizations including the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
Dr. Mando is well versed in the comprehensive management of various gastrointestinal disorders. His particular areas of expertise and interest include inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), hemorrhoid ligation therapy, and screening programs such as colon cancer screening.
