Sharmaine McCoy is a board-certified acute care nurse practitioner. She started her career at Inova in 2005, transitioning from a bedside registered nurse (RN) to a nurse practitioner.

Sharmaine has a Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree from Old Dominion University, a Master of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hampton University.

Sharmaine's passion for decreasing healthcare disparities and promoting health equity is evident in her work. She co-leads the ISHV Community Outreach Subcommittee, striving to provide safe, patient-centered care that increases patients' health literacy and empowers them to self-manage their medical diagnosis.

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, being a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, and reading and listening to audiobooks.
