Sheema Chohan is a primary care nurse practitioner certified in adult family medicine at Inova Health System. She joined Inova Primary Care in 2023 with more than one year of clinical primary care experience. She has a special interest in management of various acute and chronic illnesses including high blood pressure and high cholesterol, as well as preventive health and wellness maintenance. Sheema enjoys working with the adult population to restore health and prevent illness.
Sheema believes in holistic care and takes a multidimensional approach that includes the many unique physical and emotional attributes each individual holds. She focuses on building a relationship, looking beyond the presented condition and understanding the individual as a whole person to devlop trust. Her goal is to be an advocate for her patients by helping them achieve their health goals through an individualized health plan entailing evidence-based practice recommendations, patient beliefs and patient perspectives.
Sheema always envisioned herself being a patient advocate in the medical field, and she enjoys establishing rapport to accomplish health objectives. She entered her nursing career as a certified nursing assistant, then worked her way up and obtained her licensed practical nurse license, registered nurse license, and ultimately, a doctorate of nursing with emphasis on family practice. Sheema gained vast experience throughout her nursing career, which has spanned long-term care, urgent care, primary care and radiation oncology.
A native of San Diego, Sheema currently resides in Alexandria, VA, with her husband. In her spare time, she likes to stay active by spending time in the gym, venturing outdoors with her husband hiking and biking, and traveling to different places to immerse herself in new experiences and cultures. She also enjoys frequently traveling to her hometown to spend time with her family.
