Dr. Veronica Nguyen is a specialty physician board certified in transplant hepatology and gastroenterology at Inova Health System. She joined Inova in 2022 and has been practicing since 2015. She was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Virginia as well as named the Associate Program Director for the Inova Gastroenterology Fellowship.
Additionally, Dr. Nguyen is a peer reviewer for the American College of Gastroenterology Case Reports Journal and is a steering committee member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD). She underwent medical training at Albany Medical College, Medstar Georgetown University and the University of Arizona. Dr. Nguyen returned to Medstar Georgetown University for a year of advanced clinical training in Transplant Hepatology.
Dr. Nguyen’s areas of clinical interest include hepatocellular carcinoma, portal hypertension, cirrhosis and preventive liver care. She performs basic gastroenterological procedures such as endoscopy, variceal band ligation and colonoscopy. Dr. Nguyen has coauthored multiple clinical research articles on topics related to liver diseases.
She enjoys working with patients who have chronic liver disease, and her patient care philosophy is to care for the patient in the context of the whole person. That care encompasses all aspects of the medical process and how it affects the patient’s life. Dr. Nguyen is committed to having open, two-way conversations with her patients. Dr. Nguyen’s patient care goal is to treat each patient with respect and care, just as she would like her own family members to be cared for.
Outside the office, Dr. Nguyen enjoys hiking, yoga, bicycling, traveling and photography.
