The goal for most people is a BMI that's over 18 and under 25. This tool is for adults. BMIs for children and teens use age, plus height and weight.

 

To find your BMI on this chart, start by locating your height on the left vertical axis. Then, follow the row across to your weight on the bottom horizontal axis.

  • BMI greater than 40 - Weight loss (bariatric) surgery and/or procedure is recommended
  • BMI 35 – 39.9 with comorbidities* - Weight loss (bariatric) surgery and/or procedure is recommended
  • BMI 30 – 34.9 - Medical weight loss is recommended
  • BMI 27 – 29.9 with comorbidities* - Medical weight loss is recommended
  • BMI 25 or greater - Meal replacement program (6 and 12 week) is recommended
