New Moms Groups

You will get the opportunity to meet other parents and babies, create a new support network, share experiences, get support and resources from an experienced maternal-infant educator, and hear from guest speakers. Previous guest speakers have included a pelvic floor physical therapist, early literacy, and emergency preparedness.

New Moms schedule

  • Groups meet weekly at different times on various days. Schedule and locations listed below.
  • We will only deviate from this schedule during times of severe weather or the week of a major holiday.
  • Information about cancellations due to inclement weather or an area emergency can be obtained by calling the Inova Well weather hotline at 571-472-1438. Class and New Moms group cancellations do not always follow local public school closings.

Due to holidays, New Moms group will NOT meet during the following time frames:

  • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Monday, Jan. 15, 2024
  • Memorial Day: Monday, May 27, 2024
  • Independence Day: Thursday, July 4, 2024
  • Labor Day: Monday, Sept. 2, 2024
  • Week of Thanksgiving: Monday, Nov. 25 – Friday, Nov. 29, 2024
  • Week of Christmas: Monday, Dec. 23 – Friday, Dec. 27, 2024

In-Person Support Groups

Alexandria:

Every Tuesday at the Inova Alexandria Hospital from 10:30 a.m. to Noon

Directions to room: Enter through door 45 into the Health Education Center (to the right of the visitor’s entrance). Classrooms 1 & 2 are immediately on the left once inside the building.

Fair Oaks:

New Moms Group:

Every Monday in the Cancer Center Building at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Breastfeeding Latch Check:

Participation is free and registration is not required. Classes take place in a group setting, females only please. Every Monday, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Address: Cancer Center Building, 3580 Joseph Siewick Dr., Conference Room C and D, Fairfax, VA 22033

Directions to room: Park in the small, gated lot between buildings 3580 and 3600. When entering building 3580, take elevator down to lower level for conference room C.

Fairfax:

Breastfeeding Support Group and Latch Checks:
Participation is free and registration is not required. Classes take place in a group setting. Females only please.

Directions: Park in Green Garage and enter through door 81. Parking in the Green garage is complimentary. Inova patients meet on the 5th floor lobby of the women's and children's tower.

  • Breastfeeding Support:
    First and third Tuesday of the month from 2 to 3 p.m.
    Our IBCLC certified lactation consultants will facilitate the group for Inova patients. Breastfeeding moms can connect with each other while feeding their baby. Scales available for weighted feeds.
     
  • Latch Check:
    Second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 2 to 3 p.m.
    Hands-on latch assistance from our lactation team.

New Moms Group:

Every Thursday at the Inova Center for Personalized Health from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.

New Moms Return to Work Group:

Every second Saturday of the month at the Inova Center for Personalized Health from 10:30 to 12 p.m.

Directions to room: From the South entrance, park in lot F on Innovation Park Drive. The entrance for building 8100 is located under the sky bridge through either set of double glass doors. The F lot will be the closest parking lot to our entrance. Take elevators down to LL and enter Studio 3 via the gym. Overflow parking is also available in lot D on Peterson Discovery Drive, which can be accessed through the North entrance.

Loudoun:

Every Friday at the Inova Loudoun Cornwall location from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Directions to room: Park in the parking lot in front of the emergency room entrance. Enter the building labeled "224-D." Follow signs to Community Room 103.

Virtual Support Groups

Inova Pregnancy Q&A

You are invited to join an experienced childbirth educator on the first Monday of every month (except for holidays) for a free 60 minute Q&A session. Participants will learn about Inova hospital amenities, prenatal education opportunities, and have a chance to ask questions about their upcoming hospital experience. Registration is not required.

Breastfeeding Support

Inova is now offering a free virtual breastfeeding support group every Wednesday from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to ask any breastfeeding-related questions to an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Mothers in any stage of the breastfeeding journey are welcome. Registration is not required.
