Helping to restore the quality of life you deserve
We’ve all experienced pain at some point in our lives. The thing is, not all pain is the same. To establish effective pain management for you, our providers will diagnose the cause and come up with a comprehensive treatment plan for your pain.
Our aim is to help you improve and restore your quality of life by ensuring an accurate diagnosis and creating an optimal treatment plan with coordinated care, if needed. We hope to better manage, or ideally eliminate, your pain. A reduction in pain intensity may help:
- Improve how you feel and function physically
- Allow for an increased ability to function in personal and professional relationships
- Provide an improved sense of overall wellbeing

Interdisciplinary care team
In addition to the pain management and behavioral health specialists at Inova Comprehensive Pain Centers, our patients have easy access to physical therapists, neurosurgeons, neurologists, orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians – all located at the Inova Center for Personalized Health.
What is a pain management plan?
Instead of patients managing many providers themselves, we help to ensure patients have a smooth approach across their care needs for pain management and follow up once we have assessed patients’ individual case and needs.
Components of a balanced pain management plan may include:
- Minimally invasive, injection-based therapies
- Physical therapy and rehabilitation
- Psychological counseling
- Medication
- Coordination with diagnostic testing and providers outside of our center to ensure an integrated approach
- Surgical consultation (if more conservative measures fail to provide adequate pain relief)
Effects of pain on the body
We recognize that pain can affect a patient far beyond the immediate pain directly related to an injury or strain. For instance, if a person is experiencing debilitating pain, the effects could also cause depression, low-quality or restless sleep, increased blood pressure and other conditions. Because of these side effects of pain, our centers take an interdisciplinary approach. We work with specialists across the health system to coordinate individualized care plans for our patients.
