Dr. Sidhartha Chandela is a board certified and fellowship-trained minimally invasive neurosurgeon at Inova Health System. He has more than 20 years of clinical experience and specializes in both brain and spinal neurosurgery. His practice and interests involve using the latest spinal navigation technology to perform minimally-invasive and complex spine surgery to treat spinal stenosis, radiculopathy, myelopathy, and neck and back pain. He also performs general neurosurgery, utilizing the latest stereotactic imaging technology to treat brain tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, Chiari malformations, trauma and hydrocephalus.
Dr. Chandela is one of few unique dual-trained neurosurgeons nationwide who utilizes both endovascular and open neurosurgical techniques to treat cerebrovascular disorders such as brain aneurysms, AVM and brain bleeds. He was the first neurosurgeon in Northern Virginia to offer both microsurgical and endovascular treatment options for cerebrovascular disease. He has vast experience using emerging technology to treat stroke and remove blockages from brain arteries via thrombectomy and restoring blood flow through brain bypass surgery for Moyamoya disease.
Dr. Chandela was trained by world renowned thought leaders in neurosurgery in New York City, Philadelphia, and Utrect, Netherlands, giving him rare expertise in both brain and spine problems.
Dr. Chandela was a neurosurgeon for the Washington Commanders and served as an independent neurosurgical consultant for the NFL regarding concussion protocols since 2010. He also serves as the team neurosurgeon for D.C. United. He has won various research awards, given talks and authored numerous articles in peer reviewed journals.
