The Inova Trauma Centers in Inova Fairfax Hospital and Inova Loudoun Hospital have created a network of educational resources for the trauma professional. Our goal is the dissemination of the most current knowledge and expertise required to skillfully care for the trauma patient.
Our multidisciplinary educational resources benefit pre-hospital providers, undergraduate students, nursing professionals, medical students, and physicians. Programs include lectures, simulation workshops, conferences, and websites.
Inova is a proud provider of courses such as ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) and TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as well as the annual Inova Trauma Acute Care Surgery Externship.
Inova Trauma Centers participate in the national Stop the Bleed campaign by offering free courses to the public. Stop the Bleed courses teach non-clinical members of the public three basic steps that could save a life at the time and place of an emergency.
Trauma Nurse Education
Inova Trauma Centers are dedicated to supporting the educational needs of our nursing staff as they care for the traumatically injured patient. In order to provide high quality and safe patient care and meet state educational requirements, nurses who care for trauma patients at the Inova Trauma Centers are required to complete a minimum of four hours of trauma-specific education each year. All nurses are welcome to attend any of the training we offer as often it is applicable to the entire patient population.
Education Events
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) is a two-day course designed to empower nurses with the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and hands-on training to provide expert care for trauma patients.
