I was interested in being a resident at Inova Alexandria Hospital because: firstly, I really appreciate that it’s a community hospital with a diverse patient population. Here, I can learn in a setting that best suits my skills and expertise. With a tight-knit community and the support of a large health system, this place offers immense opportunities to residents to achieve meaningful patient-focused care. Above all, clinical rotations and experienced preceptors, provide valuable insights on my areas of interests such as medication safety and Informatics. This hospital prepares you to succeed in healthcare in a warm, welcoming environment.

I chose Alexandria Hospital because: it is a community hospital that offers a wide variety of rotations including internal medicine, critical care, infectious disease, emergency medicine, and other variety of electives including NICU, and ambulatory care. Also, the residency program at Alexandria Hospital is designed to provide a great learning environment with exposure to a high-acuity patient population. At Alexandria Hospital, pharmacists are essential to the multidisciplinary team due to the variety of pharmacy services in providing patient care during both staffing and clinical rounds. Finally, the welcome from the staff and management during my interview has made it very appealing and exciting to be part of the pharmacy team.
